Ages 8 to 18
Community Youth Program
Free and subsidized spots so every kid in Moose Jaw can box.
Who it’s for
Any young person in Moose Jaw, ages 8 to 18, who wants to train and whose family cannot swing the cost right now. That is the whole test. There is no gatekeeping and no proof demanded. If the fee is the only thing standing between a kid and the gym, this program removes it.
How referrals work
Schools, counsellors, community workers, and families can refer a young person directly. Call us or use the interest form and tell us cost is in the way. That is all it takes. We sort the rest quietly and place the athlete in the right class for their age.
Not sure if this fits your situation? Ask. The answer is almost always yes.
What a referred kid experiences
The same classes as everyone else. The same coaches, the same gear, the same free first class. That is the point. There is no separate group and no special roster. A referred kid is just a kid at boxing.
Nobody in the gym knows or asks how anyone pays. Not coaches on the floor, not teammates, not other parents.
Confidentiality
How a family pays stays between that family and the club. Referral details are handled by the club and never discussed on the gym floor. Your kid shows up, trains, and belongs. That is everything anyone here needs to know.
For funders and community partners
The Community Youth Program is Moose Jaw Boxing’s access stream. It delivers the protective factors that youth development work depends on: consistent adult mentorship from coaches held to the club’s Safe Sport policy, structured physical activity several times a week, and prevention through belonging to something positive. Young people here do not enrol in an intervention. They enrol in boxing, and the structure does the work. We track attendance, retention, and referral outcomes, and we report them on our Community Impact page.
Fees
What It Costs
Community Youth spots are free or subsidized, and we never ask for proof. KidSport can also cover registration fees, Jumpstart can help with fees, gear, and camps, and we will help with the applications.

Questions
What Parents Ask Us
Is boxing safe for kids?
Yes. Amateur boxing is one of the most supervised sports there is: certified coaches, structured classes, protective gear, medical checks, and certified officials at every sanctioned event. Our non-contact streams involve no contact at all.
Do they have to spar?
No. Sparring is always optional and always a coach's call. Athletes who want it earn their way in, with full protective gear and close supervision. Plenty of our boxers train for years and never spar.
What if my kid has never done a sport?
Then they are in good company. Total beginners are the norm here. Every athlete starts with the same fundamentals, and coaches meet each kid where they are.
Can girls join?
Yes. Girls train and compete here. Every class is coed and every athlete gets the same coaching.
What about kids with disabilities?
Talk to us and we will find a way that works. Kids train in the same classes as everyone else, and coaches adjust the work to the athlete.
